Helping Hands - Team Member Giving
Baptist Health Care team members are among our most loyal supporters through the Helping Hands program. Their generous contributions make several important initiatives possible, focusing on three main areas: directly assisting team members and their families, giving back to our community and supporting our organizational Mission of helping people throughout life’s journey.
Team Member Impact
Emergency Assistance
The Helping Hands program can provide assistance for team members of Baptist who have been affected by an unforeseen and/or debilitating life event or set of circumstances. In 2023-2024, emergency assistance totaled $55,635 to support 48 team members in need.
Scholarships
Each year, Helping Hands scholarships are available to Baptist Health Care team members, team member dependents and community members who are enrolled in a college or university and are working to obtain a degree within the health care industry. In 2023-2024, 35 scholarships in the amount of $1,000 were awarded to assist in further education.
The 2025 scholarship application period is from Tuesday, April 1 through noon, Friday, May 9.
Adoption/Foster Care Assistance
Helping Hands provides a one-time gift to assist any team member of Baptist who adopts a child or completes certification, qualifies as a foster parent and accepts responsibility for a foster child.
Holiday Food Cards
Team members in need may apply for food bags each year during the holiday season. Through Helping Hands contributions, the Foundation provides food gift cards for those team members who receive a food bag. In 2023-2024, 94 eligible team members received holiday food assistance.
Community Impact
C.A. Weis Elementary School Christmas Project
Baptist Health Care adopts C.A. Weis Elementary School each year to provide Christmas presents for the children and a holiday celebration in each classroom. Gifts and the classroom parties for the children are purchased with funds from Helping Hands. In 2023-2024, 500 students at C.A. Weis Elementary School enjoyed the annual Christmas celebration.
United Way of West Florida
Funds raised by Helping Hands are used each year to make a contribution on behalf of the team members of Baptist to United Way of West Florida. In 2023-2024, Baptist’s contribution of $20,000 supported 25 local partner agencies.
Mission Trips
Baptist Health Care proudly supports organizations and ministries that improve the quality of life in our area and in areas around the globe. Funds raised by Helping Hands support team members involved in domestic and foreign trips that help further the mission and ministry of Baptist Health Care. In 2023-2024, Baptist supported three five members in mission trip efforts.
Organizational Impact
Mini-Grants
Helping Hands contributions are used to support mini-grants, one-time project funding of $5,000 or less for team members and departments. Funding is available for program support, service support, equipment or supplies, quality or safety activities or educational activities. In 2023-2024, $34,600 was awarded to support mini-grants system-wide.
