KC Gartman, Chief Development Officer
KC Gartman is Chief Development Officer and Executive Director of External Relations for Baptist Health Care. In this role, KC provides leadership for the Baptist Health Care Foundation, government relations, faith and community health programs and Baptist’s community impact efforts. KC has been with Baptist since August 2015.
KC has more than 20 years of nonprofit leadership and fundraising experience in our community. KC earned both her master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the University of West Florida. She is a graduate of Leadership Pensacola and Leadership Northwest Florida. She is currently actively serving with several community organizations including Florida West Economic Development Agency, Florida’s Great Northwest, Florida’s Great Northwest Foundation, Pensacola Chamber of Commerce, Five Flags Rotary and Pensacola Symphony Orchestra.

Heather Moorer, Director of Development
Heather has more than 18 years of experience in health care development and has been with the Baptist Health Care Foundation for nearly 15 years. In her role, she provides strategic leadership and oversight, driving the Foundation’s efforts to generate philanthropic support and enhance public awareness. Heather leads a variety of fundraising initiatives targeting individual donors, foundations and corporate partners to benefit Baptist Health Care. Her responsibilities include overseeing major gifts, grant writing, corporate giving and programs for grateful patients and families, as well as strategic planning, revenue generation, financial management and daily operations of the Foundation.
A native of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Heather is deeply involved in her community, with active participation in her church, First Baptist Pensacola, and several professional organizations, including the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy, Estate Planning Council of Pensacola, Association of Fundraising Professionals West Florida Chapter and Gulf Breeze Rotary. She is a proud alumna of Leadership Pensacola, class of 2018, and holds a bachelor’s degree from Auburn University.

Maegan Leonard, Program Manager
Maegan brings 13 years of nonprofit experience, including nine years at the Baptist Health Care Foundation, where she plays a key role in driving financial growth and supporting fundraising initiatives. She is primarily responsible for managing the Helping Hands annual team member giving campaign and its associated programs and initiatives. As the Foundation's marketing liaison and social media manager, Maegan strives to enhance outreach and communication with donors, internal teams and the broader community. She manages all financial processes and donor fund accounts, writes and manages grant opportunities and supports any major gift campaign efforts and events for the Foundation.
Maegan served on the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals West Florida Chapter, serving as President in 2020, and the National Philanthropy Day committee for seven years. She is a Leadership Pensacola alumna, class of 2016, and currently serves on the Leadership Pensacola curriculum committee, serving as class project chair for two consecutive years. Maegan is an ambassador for Gulf Coast Kid’s House, a member of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy and participates in the Positively Pensacola community group. Maegan holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of West Florida.

Sophia Frome, Development Specialist
Sophia has worked in development for nearly 15 years and has been with the Baptist Health Care Foundation for more than seven years. She is responsible for managing the Raiser’s Edge donor database. She also oversees the day-to-day administrative tasks and all integrated technology systems. Sophia is responsible for the philanthropic data needs of the Foundation including maintaining donor records, designing analytical reports and managing philanthropy technology, as well as providing prospect research support. She also provides support for all Foundation special events.
Sophia was previously at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia, and is a graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a degree in English. She is originally from Baltimore, Maryland.

Melissa Schmiedeskamp, Development Coordinator
Melissa has worked in development for the Baptist Health Care Foundation for more than five years and is responsible for designing, planning and leading all special events for the Foundation. Melissa generates income and public awareness of the Foundation through its annual fundraising events, Casino Royale and Stepping Out in Style fashion show, as well as manages the annual giving campaign for its Mammogram Fund.
She manages the administrative duties for the Foundation board of directors and is also responsible for annual giving, appreciation and campaign events. In addition, Melissa manages the Women's Board of the Foundation and works with the board to promote Baptist Health Care's Mission through quarterly meetings, Women's Night Out events and fundraisers throughout the year.
Melissa previously was the director of catering and convention services for the Hilton on Pensacola Beach and has over 13 years of event management experience. She is a graduate of Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in communication.
