Meet our Team
KC Gartman, Chief Development Officer
KC has provided strategic leadership and oversight of the Baptist Health Care Foundation for more than seven years. She is responsible for generating philanthropic support and public awareness through fundraising programs targeting a broad base of individual donors, foundations and corporate donors to benefit Baptist Health Care. KC leads major gifts, grant writing, corporate giving, grateful patient and family programs and campaigns. She is also responsible for strategic planning, revenue generation, financial management and the daily operations of the Foundation.
KC has more than 20 years of non-profit experience in our community, and she is actively involved with Five Flags Rotary, FloridaWest EDA, First Place Partners, Pensacola Symphony Orchestra and IMPACT 100 Pensacola. KC earned both her master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the University of West Florida.

Heather Moorer, Director of Development
Heather is responsible for generating philanthropic support and public awareness of the Baptist Health Care Foundation. Heather’s focus is on major gifts, grateful patients and campaigns. She also leads donor relations and stewardship and assists the CDO with the operations and leadership of the Foundation.
Heather is from Gulf Breeze, Florida, and has more than 16 years of health care non-profit experience. She is actively involved with her church, First Baptist Pensacola, and several organizations including the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy, Estate Planning Council of Pensacola, Association of Fundraising Professionals West Florida Chapter and Gulf Breeze Rotary. Heather is a Leadership Pensacola alumna, class of 2018, and she earned her bachelor's degree from Auburn University.

Maegan Leonard, Program Manager
Maegan has worked in development for the Baptist Health Care Foundation for eight years and is responsible for contributing to the Foundation's overall financial growth and fundraising initiatives, with a focus on developing and managing the Helping Hands annual team member giving campaign and its program initiatives. She serves as the Foundation marketing liaison and social media manager to grow and improve community, donor and organizational communication. She manages all financial processes and donor fund accounts, writes and applies for grant opportunities and supports any major gift campaign efforts and events for the Foundation.
Maegan served on the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals West Florida Chapter, serving as President in 2020, and the National Philanthropy Day committee for six years. She is a Leadership Pensacola alumna, class of 2016 and currently serves on the Leadership Pensacola curriculum committee, most recently serving as class project chair for two years. Maegan is an ambassador for Gulf Coast Kid’s House and a member of community group Positively Pensacola. Maegan is a graduate of the University of West Florida with a degree in journalism.

Sophia Frome, Development Specialist
Sophia has worked in development for more than 10 years and has been with the Baptist Health Care Foundation for more than five years. She is responsible for managing the Raiser’s Edge donor database. She also oversees the day-to-day administrative tasks and all integrated technology systems. Sophia is responsible for the philanthropic data needs of the Foundation including maintaining donor records, designing analytical reports and managing philanthropy technology, as well as providing prospect research support. She also provides support for all Foundation special events.
Sophia was previously at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia, and is a graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a degree in English. She is originally from Baltimore, Maryland.

Melissa Schmiedeskamp, Development Coordinator
Melissa has worked in development for the Baptist Health Care Foundation for more than four years and is responsible for designing, planning and leading all special events for the Foundation. Melissa generates income and public awareness of the Foundation through its annual fundraising events, Casino Royale and Stepping Out in Style fashion show, as well as manages the annual giving campaign for its Mammogram Fund.
She manages the administrative duties for the Foundation board of directors and is also responsible for annual giving, appreciation and campaign events. In addition, Melissa manages the Women's Board of the Foundation and works with the board to promote Baptist Health Care's Mission through quarterly meetings, Women's Night Out events and fundraisers throughout the year.
Melissa previously was the director of catering and convention services for the Hilton on Pensacola Beach and has over 13 years of event management experience. She is a graduate of Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in communication.
