Registration Open for the 10th Annual Bras Across the Bridge
PENSACOLA, Fla. (Sept. 17, 2019) – Event registration is now open for the 10th annual Bras Across the Bridge presented by Baptist Health Care Foundation and Pensacola Honda along with partners The Grand Marlin Restaurant & Oyster Bar, Soft Rock 94.1, Magic 106.1, Nash 102.7, WCOA 1370, Jet 100.7, WEAR ABC3 - WFGX 35 and Pensacola News Journal.
Event check-in will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 in the parking lot of The Grand Marlin on Pensacola Beach. At 9 a.m., breast cancer survivors, their loved ones and the community are invited to join together and make their way across the Bob Sikes Bridge as a show of awareness and support in the fight against breast cancer. An after-party at The Grand Marlin will follow at 9:30 a.m. to noon. The celebration will include a silent auction, live music, activities and drink specials.
Registration is $20 per person plus the donation of a new bra, and the first 500 participants will receive a pink T-shirt. Attendees may also choose to honor a loved one on a banner to be displayed at the event. Online registration is available at BaptistHealthCareFoundation.org. One hundred percent of funds raised will benefit the Baptist Health Care Foundation’s Mammogram Fund, which raises awareness and support for early detection and provides mammograms to women who are not financially able to afford one on their own. The bras will be donated to local organizations that help women and girls in need.
Since the beginning of this program, free screenings have been provided to 2,021 women. As a result of these screenings, 411 women required additional testing, 47 required biopsies and 18 were diagnosed with breast cancer.
