PENSACOLA, Fla. (Dec. 23, 2020) – For many years, Baptist Health Care team members have provided a Christmas celebration for the students at C.A. Weis Elementary School, A Community Partnership School in Pensacola.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in adherence to CDC guidelines, Baptist was not able to host traditional onsite parties and classroom celebrations this year. Baptist departments still shopped the children’s wish lists and donated gifts and goodies to more than 550 students.

“At the beginning of the school year, we were still unsure of what we were going to be able to do this year,” said Maegan Leonard, development specialist, Baptist Health Care Foundation. “Even though we can’t be there in person to see all their little smiling faces, we are still grateful to be able to continue this Baptist tradition. This year has been tough for everyone, especially our children. To be able to bring holiday cheer to them before Christmas has certainly been the highlight of our year.”

Funds for the Christmas gifts are provided through the Helping Hands team member giving program of the Baptist Health Care Foundation, which is funded by generous contributions from Baptist team members across the organization.
